Brief:
Escape Book wishes to “digitize” its escape game books
with an augmented reality application in which the user will be
immersed in a universe where they can solve puzzles using clues and
elements placed within their environment. Escape Book is a collection
of game books inspired by escape rooms and gamebooks, created by
François Lévin for Éditions 404. Each book is dedicated to a clearly
defined theme or universe.
As in a gamebook, the reader identifies with the main character (and narrator) and must guide them out of an enclosed or isolated location, or solve investigations. Each location visited contains objects, keys, codes, tools, or texts to read. Locked doors prevent the way out: it is up to the reader to figure out which items to use and in what order to open them. The assigned mission is to create a prototype mobile application in augmented reality, with worlds unique to each book, and to develop the communication for this application.
